MILLENIUM HANDCRAFT SOCIETY
Our Background
The millennium handicraft society started in 1999 with 25 members. It operated as a group and in 2004, the number had increased to 60 and it was registered as a cooperative society the same year.
We carve carvings from soft wood e.g. neem tree, coconut tree, mango tree, etc.
The main motive of creating the organization is to jointly market our products in order to uplift and improve the livelihood of the members.

SERVICES
We carve wood and make animals and human statues as well.
We buy soft wood from outside in the villages and carve out of them.
We sell the carvings to the local people and tourists when they visit us. We mostly have no sales because visitors don’t visit us often because we don’t have international market for our products.
Challenges
We get very low sales because we don’t have foreign market.
We don’t have our own land where we can work without having to pay rental fees. We pay every month to work on that plot where our showroom is situated.
Future Plans
We would like to get orders from abroad and we sell our products in bulk. We would like to get well-wishers who can support us to get our own piece of land. We would like to get an organization who can help us to market our goods. We would like to get either a group of people or an individual who can assist us to get an order and be able to attend international trades where wood carvings can have a demand.
